Jute is bio-degradable and compostable, and as well being as hard-wearing, the crop used is grown without the need for fertiliser or pesticides. The crop is also very sustainable, it reaches maturity in under six months and offers large crop yield compared to the size of the land it is grown on, meaning compared to other crops much less land is needed, so reducing the need to encroach upon wilderness and other natural habits.
