Instead of producing a flame, the iFire fires a small arc of high voltage electricity which is much hotter than a flame, but in a smaller area, and as long as the object you want to light fits inside the 7mm gap it will light. So cigarettes and candle wicks will be fine, but perhaps a big cigar wouldn't work easily. Because there is no flame to blow out, or blow back onto your thumb, these make excellent outdoor lighters, so perfect for barbecues and bonfires.
The gooseneck bendy shaft makes it ideal for lighting tricky hard to reach areas or lighting into a burned down candle.
