The Kindling Cracker™ is a wood splitter almost anyone can use, the clever design is basically an upturned axe that the wood is placed onto, and then once struck with a mallet or even just another piece of wood, the larger log will split down into smaller chunks. Ideal for homes with wood burners, fireplaces, fire pits, or wood fired saunas.

1. Difference between Original and King Size models?
Original can split wood up to 16cm diameter, King size up to 22.5cm
2. Does it need to be sharpened?
No, The unique wedge design of the Kindling Cracker means the blade does not need to be razor sharp to work well. But it can be sharpened if you wish.
3 Will it wear out with lots of use?
No, top grade cast iron is used to make the Kindling Cracker. The Kindling Cracker will last for generations if cared for, made in a top quality foundry in Australia...beware of cheap Chinese copies!
4. Can it split hardwood?
Absolutely, any wood that can be split with an axe is no problem
5. Does it have to be fixed?
Totally up to you, they are sturdy enough to work fine freestanding and than can be transported, but there are holes if you want to screw it down as a permanent fixture.

I was sceptical about this device but my goodness, it makes chopping kindling so easy, even for a clumsy fool like me. Put the log in the top, bang with a heavy sledgehammer a few times (very therapeutic) and you have a split log. Repeat for kindling. Really safe, quick and easy, and will pay for itself in the long run as I'll not be buying bags of kindling.

I am hoping that this product will be as good as shown on all the videos that I have watched. I have bought it as a present for my husband to help with the many hours of log chopping!

I bought this for my mum who insists on cutting logs with axe and chainsaw -- this seems much safer than both and easier than swinging an axe.
It's a big heavy thing and feels very sturdy, like it will last a long time.
Mum says it works brilliantly and makes quite a bit of kindling in a very short time.
Couldn't be happier with it.
