A Simple Squishy Joy

I'm an adult woman with Asperger's, but this mat caused a wonderful regression to childhood. If I'm honest, the very first thing I did was smell it. The outer plastic is made of the same stuff as my inflatable swimming ring when I was little; first class nostalgia smell. My next impulse was to arrange all of the coloured balls in one level layer. This took a little time, and at one stage I was a bit worried that there weren't enough balls to fill the whole mat, I really didn't want an empty space, but I persevered and can now confirm that there are enough balls to cover the whole area without leaving gaps or piling up. I can't rationally explain why that's important, but it is. The balls are about 5mm across, have a jelly, squishy feel, are translucent, and there appears to be an equal amount of each colour (red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple). When pressed, the balls slip away from the pressure so keep there shape, but if cornered against the edge and pinched they do break into smaller pieces. Because of this I wouldn't recommend squeezing the mat with your fist, it will last longer if pressed flat. The outer plastic is clear on one side and frosted white on the other. The colours can still be seen clearly on the frosted side, offering a slightly different feel and appearance. This is a good toy for use with a light box or held up to a window. I suspect I'll often have this mat on my lap when I'm watching TV to occupy me during the adverts. Good product for the price, very happy.
