Healing Gong in Stand Description
This stunning healing gong is hand made in Bali by skilled artisans, it consists of a nipple gong that is suspended in a beautifully carved Albasia wood stand. An ancient percussion instrument, the gong has been played all over the world, particularly China, Burma, and Indonesia for centuries, and have been popular in Western musical culture since around the 1700's. The metal gong itself is hand forged from a metal disc, and the stand is hand made from Albasia wood, a sustainable fast growing soft wood tree in Indonesia. There is also a traditional 'Gong Beater', which is a felted mallet with a bulbous tip, the gong can also be struck with a drumstick, but this would produce a less resonant sound.
Gongs have become very popular when used in Yoga or meditation, just like a warm steaming soak in a bathtub relaxes the mind and body, a gong bath is similar, but you bathe in the stress relieving and healing vibrations of the sound. When used in Yoga, your instructor may strike a gong to indicate the end of Shavasana.
Whether you are using the gong purely as an objet d'art, as a percussion instrument, to aid in meditation, or simply as a dinner bell, this gong is musical, mystical, and decorative in equal measures.
