These contemporary sun discs can be used indoors or outdoors, in good light the fluorescent green pigment really stands out, and if the angle of the light passes through the disc, they will also create colourful light projections. As the light starts to diminish the invisible short wave light is transferred to the laser cut edge, making it appear to light up. The discs are mounted onto a long flexible stem, so when used outside there is also movement as they flex and sway around in the breeze. They also look great indoors, perhaps in a glass vase in a sunny window for a funky alternative to floral decorations, or if throwing a UV party or using in a sensory room they are highly UV blacklight reactive. When using outdoors they make a fantastic alternative to solar or mains powered lighting, they require nothing, they don't have to placed in direct sunshine to charge, and they absorb the smallest amount of short wave invisible light and transport it to the laser cut edge, making them appear to light up. They would look great placed alongside our sun discs in orange!
How does it work?
Made from a special fluorescent acrylic with a laser cut edge, they collect short wave light that we can't see, and transfers the light into a visible long wave light along the laser cut edge, sometimes called "Edge Glow" or "Lit Edge" technology.
How does they differ?
They AREN'T 'Photoluminescent' (Glow in the dark), they don't need to charge, and they don't need to be in pitch black to see the effect, in fact they look best at dusk and dawn, low light, or cloudy weather.
They AREN'T 'Solar Powered', the sun doesn't need to charge these, there are no batteries, no panels, and no wiring, neither do they have to placed in a sunny south facing location to work.
