Ever since the release of the Kindle and more recently the iPad, the debate has been as to whether books are set to go the same way as CD’s. E-books are taking the world by storm which has been leaving the trusty old hardback a little redundant.
Websites out there have therefore been suggesting alternative uses for the hardback, one of which was been the book lamp. Tipped by these websites as the ultimate in home DIY lighting you simply chop some pages from the book as shown (this hurts me as a book lover), cut a route for the cable and then insert a light...best to use a 7 watt compact fluorescent bulb or a cold LED bulb (avoid incandescent bulbs unless you like fire).
Then simply close the book and you have soft lighting that looks studious and literary. Not wholly confident in your DIY book lamp making skills, or simply can’t bring yourself to butcher a good book? Then check out our funky lighting range that gives you all the benefits of cool and different lighting without the heartache.
